PERSONAL UPDATE

Note: Am trying to finish this but I'm kinda overwhelmed, life has been brutal, aaaaah.

I did make a lot of changes but I can't upload them atm, too many PSD files and GitLab has an upload limit so I'm stuck, I have to remove my custom workflow, so I pretty much have to finish the mod, blah.

MY LIFE IS LESS OVERWHELMING NOW SO WISH ME LUCK. I'M WORKING THIS IN MY SUPER LIMITED FREE TIME, BUT I'M TRYING I SWEAR.

working on the hud was TORTUROUS and i also remade some of the floor textures because when you zoomed in they looked like ass

the world map also looks a bit different

i know not everyone is going to like the design changes i made but this game is SUPER HARD to mod without any source code so, eh im working with what i have SORRY TO ANYBODY WHO IS UNHAPPY BUT I KINDA WANT TO GET IT DONE, IM REALLY HAPPY I DIDNT GIV E UP DOE, but this stuff is hella time consuming and it takes a lot of trial and error, i wish i had more free time :(

i have no idea if anyone is still following this but YEP IM STILL WORKING ON IT XD

i had to waste a lot of time doing random things by hand and the mod being setup in a weird way also wasted a lot of time

font texture upscaled with ai, so i could have a reference, i deleted the ai texture and i manually placed every letter by hand in the right spot, it was really torturous to align all the text by hand

high res fonts so the game doesnt look like a blurry mess at modern resoutions, all fonts are handmade, it made me want to die

one part of the hud, every single element had to be aligned by hand PIXEL BY PIXEL IN A TEXT FILE AAAH

this hud was a nightmare and i had to make the alpha manually, and align everything in the text file, the texture itself, because very often there are invisible boundaries where the texture decides to... dissapear... ughh

the corridor wall, and the meat slab are ai generated, the freezer floor i made myself, and i made it purple to give it a cooler vibe - i never use ai generated textures raw, unless i get lazy anyway, i always tweak them a lot, i did use the original textures of the game, sometimes i make a composite of multiple textures, its hard to find textures that match the game and i didnt want to ruin the art style so i did my best so that you will hopefully not feel like something feels wrong, it feels pretty natural to me, i also add a layer of scratches and grime where i can, or i add a layer of shadows at the top to hide the game's crappy shadows sometimes it looks like a faked ambient occlusion in some places like the strong room so thats neat
the henchmen textures and minions are also upscaled with ai, if i notice any defects i will clean them up, i didnt upscale the agent textures, they look fine and they dont have too many details and i feel like people will look more at the minions or henchmen so i wanted those to look nice up close

a lot of the original textures for the characters look pretty good as they are high res-ish but the floors look terrible, i like to clean up the overly noisy textures by using the upscales, the changes look more obvious on specific characters... im too lazy to look for atm

even if ai upscaling some textures is pointless as they dont look that different, the game does feel sharper for some reason? its hard to explain but it feels more pleasant to me

some textures i got lazy and i only partially edited them, i removed the glow effect from the gold because bloom sucks and did you know it said "evil gold"?
more ai generated textures to make the food look more edible and i cleaned up the actual textures to fit with the rest of the game
the floors are high res so you can really zoom in and they look nice, they also have a small layer of detail so that they dont look TOO clean but its hard to see because it shiny, there are also some textures that had bad UV maps so i aligned them manually or i tiled them better because the errors look really bad normally, i never noticed these problems because the game never allows you to zoom in this much before and it bugged me, like the staff room textures look really bad

i'm only one person and i also had to do a lot of backbreaking work too so... ehh, I'M TRYING OKAY

WISH ME LUCK

i do get stuff done but i've been super overwhelmed as i did as much work as 10 people in real life, but this ai stuff has been great, i learned some c++, javascript, how to use ffmpeg and some random crap, but its all a bit messy atm, but im soo glad ai exists

this is a photoshop script i made with chat gpt to save textures when i push ctrl + s, i add (Auto TGA) in the .psd name, and i put it in the folder where i want the .tga to be generated, i push ctrl + s, boom, done, im feeling optimistic about getting everything done, I. JUST. NEED. MORE. TIME.

photoshop script

that 10 line thing saved me easily 1000 clicks, like HOURS worth of wasted time

i will remove this wall of text when im done i guess
